The Sways – “Feels Like Deja Vu”
-Typically indie rock is a genre where we have a lot of tracks to feature, but this week it just wasn’t falling into place so I decided to feature this track on its own. Honestly, it’s a happy accident because it gives me more time to sink my teeth into this one. Let me just say… the Sways are on the “rise” in my own catalog with tracks like this that have a good straight rock base and then these absolutely delicious vocal harmonies. Something about this track has an energy that feels like easy going rock in some places, yet there’s this depth and sincerity to it that feels more like what bands of the 1960s were trying to accomplish with that era of truth seeking. The lyrical concept here of imaging yourself with someone (when it apparently didn’t work out) and that line about spending most of your life seeking paradise. Wow. This is a dream, it’s a fantasy, and it’s a hope for something that never happened. I love the mood, the instrumentation, and the harmonies are top notch. I’ll be spinning this one personally a LOT.
