The spooky season has officially arrived, and it’s all thanks to the final film in one of the world’s most loved horror franchises. The Conjuring Universe released its ninth and final chapter, The Conjuring: Last Rites, last weekend, and its performance at the Indian box office has been absolutely monstrous.

The film has a huge and loyal fanbase in India, which was evident from its fiery advance bookings. Despite clashing with big Bollywood releases like Baaghi 4 and The Bengal Files, this horror flick is not just holding its own; it’s crushing the competition.

The Conjuring: Last Rites First Week Box Office Breakdown

    Paid Previews (Thursday): 0.43 cr

    Day 1 (Friday): 16.90 cr

    Day 2 (Saturday): 17.04 cr

    Day 3 (Sunday): 15.27 cr

    Day 4 (Monday): 4.95 cr

    Day 5 (Tuesday): 5.47 cr

    Day 6 (Wednesday): 3.90 cr

Day 7 (Thursday): 3.50 cr (est.)

Total (1st Week): 67.46 crore net

After a fantastic opening weekend, the film held strong on the weekdays, ending its first week with a massive total of Rs 67.46 crore net. The film is already a super hit and, based on this trend, is certain to cross the 90 or even 100 crore net mark in its lifetime run.

A New Record For The Conjuring Universe

The success of The Conjuring: Last Rites is historic for the franchise in India. Its opening day collection of Rs 16.90 crore shattered the previous record held by The Nun (Rs 10.8 crore). It also easily surpassed the openings of other popular films in the series, like The Conjuring 2 (Rs 7 crore) and Annabelle: Creation (Rs 6 crore). This massive success cements the final chapter’s place as the most popular film in the entire series for Indian audiences.

    About The Conjuring Universe

The Conjuring Universe is a popular American media franchise and shared fictional universe centered on a series of supernatural horror films. Created by James Wan, the franchise began with The Conjuring in 2013 and has since released nine films, including spin-offs like Annabelle and The Nun.
