The wait is finally over! The trailer for Thamma, the next highly-anticipated film from the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU), has been unleashed, and it looks terrific. Featuring the fresh pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the film is all set to light up the screens this Diwali, releasing on October 21, 2025.

After the massive success of films like Stree 2 and Munjya, the expectations for Thamma are sky-high, and the trailer promises to deliver a perfect mix of horror, comedy, action, and romance.

A Bloody Love Story With Legendary VFX

The trailer throws us into a visually stunning and bloody world where “love bleeds.” We see Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Alok, in a terrifying state with bloodshot eyes, no pulse, and his skin burning in the sunlight. Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna’s character, Tadaka, appears to revive a thousand-year-old legend, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui makes a bone-chilling appearance as Yakshaashan.

The trailer is packed with spectacular VFX, showing unleashed beasts and high-octane action sequences. But true to the MHCU style, the horror is perfectly balanced with Maddock’s signature hilarious and relatable comedy, making it a complete family entertainer for the festive season.

The First Love Story In The MHCU

What makes Thamma truly unique is that it’s the first-ever love story set in this spooky universe. Director Aditya Sarpotdar, who also directed Munjya, described it as a “twisted love story” that takes the universe forward in an unexpected way.

Producer Dinesh Vijan also revealed the official visual identity of the MHCU, signaling a long-term vision for telling unique Indian stories inspired by folklore. He stated that Thamma aims to take the universe to the next level in terms of scale, ambition, and technology.

The Star Cast On Joining The Universe

Ayushmann Khurrana expressed his excitement about joining the franchise, saying, “This genre has always fascinated me because it pushes boundaries. In Thamma, I play Alok : a man who never asked for the extraordinary, but is forced to confront it.” He also emphasized that the film is an entertainer that families can enjoy together this Diwali.

Rashmika Mandanna, who plays the central character of Tadaka, added, “Thamma is a very special film for me because it brings together horror, comedy, folklore, and even a love story rooted in India. Playing Tadaka has been both challenging and exciting.”
